Clearview Revitalization Update #4

August 7th, 2024

In this update: Leadership Training | Men's Bible Study | Recent Sermon | Flooring Update

Since our last communication, developments have progressed rapidly, giving us ample reason to celebrate. In this update, I wish to emphasize several initiatives that have impacted the "body life" of the church. Local churches are more than just brink and mortar structures; they are a community united by their identity in the one who redeemed them—a community joining forces to further to worship our King and advance the Kingdom of God.

Leadership Training w/ Tony Samples

One of the delights in the initial phase of accompanying Clearview on their path to health is the opportunity to provide resources that were once unavailable. The decision to invite Tony Samples from Southern Church Consulting for Strategic Leadership Team training marked a significant milestone in our pathway to revitalization. In his book, "Conviction to Lead", Dr. Albert Mohler President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary said, "The leader may have the most brilliant strategy in his mind, the most breathtaking vision in his sights, and an irrepressible passion in his heart, but if these are not communicated to others, real leadership just doesn’t occur." This reality was central to the specialized training - it gives framework for real biblical leadership in the local church. In the first session together the two major areas of emphasis were realized: Function and Purpose of a Healthy Team.

Pastors cannot healthily lead in isolation. Indeed, every church member has a role in ministry. Considering the array of gifts, skills, and opportunities that manifest weekly in each local church, it is crucial that they collaborate towards a unified objective. That's where the team thrives! The enthusiasm with which Clearview asked questions during the Q&A session was truly impactful, further demonstrating their commitment and "buy-in."

If you are a pastor or ministry leader and you think your church could utilize a Bible-based practical training on Strategic Leadership Teams for the local church, reach out to our friends at Southern Church Consulting (Bryan Alexander, Tony Samples) Visit here.

Men's Bible Study

The revitalization pathway's various construction projects have brought a refreshing focus to Clearview. Recent discoveries have revealed that there is more to the story than just hammers striking nails. Amidst the construction activities on Tuesday evenings, a new Men's Bible Study group meets before the night's physical work begins. Reading scripture passages and discussing the content together is one of the foundational building blocks for future success in any local church. Simply put, this is the men of Clearview presenting themselves as real men. Proverbs 27:17 - Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

A Recent Sermon from Pastor Johnny Johnson

The pinnacle of the local church's activities is the weekly proclamation of the Word of God. Therefore, I think it is necessary to provide a snapshot into the preaching ministry of the pastor at Clearview. A steady diet of the scriptures is being administered each week - here's an excerpt from the Sunday morning sermon from August 4th from Acts 9:19-28 on "Ministry Faithfulness":

"We cannot give up or give in. What are we done with? The Savior who died on the cross, the blood He shed, His full forgiveness, that He wrote our names in the Lamb's book of life?" Speaking of Barnabas dealing with Saul, "As a child of God, we can be committed and must remain committed to God in all circumstances."

As we journey down the path of revitalization, it is crucial that we neither lose sight of nor falter in our resolve to fulfill what we have been summoned to achieve for the glory of God. We should be like Barnabas. Acts 9:27 - But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
